Finally, a reason to buy an issue of ESPN The Magazine. Female MMA sensation Gina Carano will dawn the October cover for the trendy mag’s “The Body” issue. Carano, no stranger to having her supermodel-esque body captured on camera, appears mostly naked, with the exception of some butthuggers and strategically placed MMA gloves.
The issue hits newsstands this Friday, October 9th, however Carano won’t be the only stripped-down pro on the cover of this edition. Five other athletes will be featured in various stages of nakedness for their own individual covers.
NASCAR’s Carl Edwards, the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard, Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson, triathlete Sarah Reinertsen and tennis royalty Serena Williams will each have their own magazine cover as well.
Um, yeah. Here’s to hoping that the I get the one with Carano on the cover …
This is the first year ESPN The Magazine has issued “The Body” edition. It’s likely their attempt at competing head-on against Sports Illustrated’s “Swimsuit Edition,” which began its annual bikini festival in 1964.
There will be more than 30 athletes featured in ESPN’s spread, including former UFC champion Randy Couture.
Prior to landing the cover for this magazine, MMA’s cover girl was last seen getting her immaculate face smashed-in by Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos August. Although that cat fight marks the only blemish on Carano’s resume, it certainly hasn’t affected her career outside the cage.
How come they didn’t give Cyborg the cover?
