As the old adage goes, “The squeaky wheel gets the oil.” The UFC applied that principle on Friday night after middleweight Michael Bisping previously requested a battle with Brian Stann (Pictured).
The middleweights will co-headline UFC 152 on September 22nd.
Over Fourth of July weekend, Bisping said his surgically-repaired knee was coming along nicely and wanted to test his skills against “The All-American.” Stann caught wind of the Brit’s challenge and quickly stepped up to the plate.
Stann is also looking to rebound from an injury. He was set to roll out the welcome wagon for Hector Lombard at “UFC on FOX 4” until a separated shoulder forced the 31-year-old on the IR.
Bisping was slated to face Tim Boetsch next month at UFC 149 before going under the knife.
Air Canada Centre in Toronto hosts the festivities.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Marcus Brimage vs. Jim Hettes
BJ Penn vs. Rory MacDonald
Brian Stann vs. Michael Bisping
Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson (Vacant flyweight championship bout)
