The UFC has yet to officially announce Vinny Magalhaes’ (Pictured) re-signing, but that hasn’t stopped the mixed martial arts promotion from arranging the light heavyweight’s first assignment.
Sportsnet’s Canadian journalist Joe Ferraro is reporting Magalhaes will meet Igor Pokrajac inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto at UFC 152.
Magalhaes lost both of his bouts in his first big league stint. He was released after dropping a decision to Eliot Marshall at UFC 97 in April 2009.
The jiu jitsu ace went on to win seven of his next eight scraps en route to capturing the M-1 Global light heavyweight crown.
After posting a disappointing 1-3 mark in his opening four Octagon fights, Pokrajac has since rattled off three consecutive victories. The Croatian was most recently seen taking a unanimous decision over Fabio Maldonado in May.
Here are the athletes expected to perform in the September 22nd event:
Marcus Brimage vs. Jim Hettes
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Igor Pokrajac
Brian Stann vs. Michael Bisping
BJ Penn vs. Rory MacDonald
Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson (Vacant flyweight championship bout)
