Last week, Ronda Rousey’s nude pictorial in ESPN the Magazine’s “The Body Issue” set the mixed martial arts world on fire. Fanboys couldn’t stop clamoring over the Strikeforce bantamweight champ’s steamy spread and were counting down the days until the issue hit newsstands.
On the flipside, as expected, it didn’t take long for the haters to come out of the woodwork. The most vocal detractor has come in the form of a familiar foe in Miesha Tate, who claims the “Rowdy” one is being hypocritical for bashing other MMA females for posing naked, only to turn around and do it herself.
“Any1 else think it’s hypocritical 4 Ronda Rousey 2 talk crap about ring girls in playboy but it’s totally fine 2 pose ‘artistically nude?’, Tate posted on her Twitter account. “Well what’s the difference between a pro female athlete and a ring girl? I’d say ring girls jobs are soley based on sex appeal, so it makes more Sense 4 the ring girls 2 pose nude then it does Ronda yet she talks crap about them.
“If the ring girls wanna pose in playboy I’m all 4 it, who cares don’t talk crap n then turnaround & get 1% less naked #HypocrisyAtItsFinest”
There was plenty of beef between the two ladies heading into March’s showdown, and it appears Rousey’s 1stRound armbar submission victory to take Tate’s title did little to tame their rivalry.
Rousey is slotted to defend her throne against Sarah Kaufman on August 17th. Tate is scheduled to meet Julie Kedzie that same evening. Let’s just hope the archenemies don’t cross paths backstage.
