On Wednesday evening, a critical welterweight affair between Jake Ellenberger (Pictured) and Josh Koscheck was added to the UFC 151 lineup. The shootout co-headlines the September 1st show.
Both 170-pounders are looking to rebound from disappointing losses. Ellenberger was upset by Martin Kampmann in his last outing, while Koscheck dropped a controversial split decision to Johny Hendricks in May.
Ellenberger had rattled off six consecutive victories prior to coming into contact with Kampmann’s knee. “The Juggernaut” was well on his way to securing a title fight before the setback.
Koscheck, meanwhile, looks to make one final run at the gold before calling it a career. The 34-year-old veteran has lost two of his last four fights.
Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the bash. A light heavyweight title tilt between champion Jon Jones and Dan Henderson headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here are the athletes expected to perform in the event:
John Lineker vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani
Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Hougland
Thiago Tavares vs. Dennis Hallman
Dennis Siver vs. Eddie Yagin
Danny Castillo vs. Michael Johnson
Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck
