Tim Sylvia was supposed to be the guy who finally had the potential to beat Fedor Emelianenko, or at least test him. Well, after only :36 seconds, we were all shown that Fedor is as unbeatable as you can get. At the post-fight press conference, Fedor told the media, “I was very pleased with my performance. Everything I wanted to do I was able to do.” That would be then understatement of the year. Fedor also became the first WAMMA heavyweight champion in the process.
Fedor’s destruction of Sylvia looked more like what he might do to one of the 16 “challengers” he will going up against as part of the “Fighting Fedor” reality show that M-1 Global is putting together.
After tonight there’s no doubt that Fedor is in a league of his own, but we also found out that Affliction has some serious heavyweight talent to keep him busy for at least the next year.
Josh Barnett looked impressive in his KO victory over Pedro Rizzo, as did Andrei Arlovski ,who dispatched the former IFL heavyweight standout Ben Rothwell.
