The injury bug strikes again. This time, it comes rearing its ugly head just 10 days before showtime by taking out Ben Rothwell’s (Pictured) ankle.
According to MMAFighting, former Strikeforce heavyweight Devin Cole has been offered the opportunity to battle Travis Browne on August 4th.
The UFC has yet to confirm Rothwell’s wound or whether Cole is willing to serve as a last-minute substitute.
Browne continued his torrid ascent up the totem pole with an easy submission win over Chad Griggs at UFC 145. “Hapa” is unbeaten in 14 professional bouts, although he did post a draw against Cheick Kongo at UFC 120.
Cole would be riding a two-fight winning streak into the scrap if he accepts. The 35-year-old was last seen posting a unanimous decision victory over Gabriel Salinas-Jones in December.
Rothwell’s exit means three of the four fights appearing in the live FOX broadcast have been affected by injury.
