UFC Light Heavyweight Jon Jones

Just moments after UFC president Dana White cleared the air regarding the light heavyweight pecking order, reigning 205-pound king Jon Jones (Pictured) joined most of the mixed martial arts world in asking, ‘Huh???’

In response to a tweet alerting Jones that if he retains his crown against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 he’d be facing a familiar foe in the winner of this Saturday’s scrap between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera, the skyrocketing superstar couldn’t stop itching his noggin.

“Scratching my head,” Jones tweeted.

Jones became the youngest champion in Octagon history by annihilating Shogun for his strap at UFC 128. However, the Brazilian shouldn’t feel too badly about the defeat.

“Bones” has steamrolled practically every opponent that’s stood across the cage from him – including Vera, who had his orbital bone cracked when he attempted the face-to-elbow defense in their March 2010 tango.

There was an earlier report that a victorious Lyoto Machida or Ryan Bader could earn next dibs at Jones’ belt if their win was more impressive than either Shogun or Vera’s. White quickly shot that notion down during Monday’s conference call.

Regardless, Jones has already posted convincing finishes over them, as well.

Although the light heavyweight class is one of the UFC’s deepest divisions, it is steadily approaching the point where the 25-year-old is about to lap the field. Unless he decides to transition to heavyweight or take a superfight with middleweight champ Anderson Silva, Jones might be scratching his dome for quite some time.

Jones is currently a 7.5-to-1 odds-on favorite to beat Henderson.
