Leonard Garcia has confirmed that he will be taking on Jens Pulver at WEC 36 on September 10th. The star-studded WEC card will have two title bouts, featuring WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber taking on Mike Brown, as well as the rematch between Chael Sonnen and WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho.
Garcia told MMAJunkie that the bout should be finalized later on this week. This will be Garcia’s first MMA bout since he was arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking in El Paso, Texas last March. The Federal charges were later dropped and Garcia has since gone back to training with Greg Jackson’s “Jackson’s Submission Fighting”in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This will be Pulver’s first bout since his loss to Urijah Faber in a classic featherweight fight at WEC 34 last month. Pulver, the longtime UFC veteran, is looking to bounce back strong in his second bout in the WEC.
The card will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. This will mark the first time ever that the WEC has held an event in Florida. WEC 36 will be airing free on the Versus Network and is also available in HD.
