Word on the street is that Fabricio Werdum will be taking on Antonio Silva in one of the four bouts televised on CBS at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers.” The November 7th show will be taking place inside the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Multiple sources close to the situation have confirmed that this heavyweight scrap will happen. However, no official word from the San Jose-based company regarding the contest.
Werdum looked impressive in his Strikeforce debut when it took him all of 1:24 to catch an overwhelmed Mike Kyle in a sick guillotine choke. Prior to that “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” contest, Werdum was ousted from the UFC following his 1stRound TKO loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 90 last October.
Silva, on the other hand, is one of the world’s most talented young heavyweights. The Brazilian has rolled off six consecutive wins, with the last two taking place in Japan as he attempted to circumvent the system by hiding out, ahem fighting, overseas.
Silva tested positive for Boldenone following his EliteXC victory over Justin Eilers back in July of 2008.
Although Silva protested the charge, the California State Athletic Commission upheld their decision to suspend the former EliteXC champ for one year and the $2,500 fine.
No word if the CSAC will make a stink about Silva’s slick attempt to cheat the system when he submits his request for a license, but there’s no reason to believe they won’t.
Does it seem right that he can test positive and get suspended in the U.S. for a year, then go fight for Sengoku in Japan, only to come back to the States once his suspension ends?
Anyways, here are the fighters rumored to be competing in the primetime extravaganza:
Bobby Lashley vs. TBD
Mark Miller vs. Deray Davis
Christian Uflacker vs. Jonatas Novaes
Gegard Mousasi (Non-Title Bout – Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion) vs. TBD
Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio Silva

Brett Rogers vs. Fedor Emelianenko (WAMMA Heavyweight Champion)
