MMA Junkie is reporting that the UFC is considering moving Anderson Silva from UFC 88 to UFC 89. Silva was originally slated to face Yushin Okami at UFC 88 in the main event, but Okami’s broken hand has put Patrick Cote in that slot. Now, the UFC is thinking about putting UFC 89 on Spike TV for free with Silva headlining.
If true, this would put the Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell light heavyweight fight back into the main event at UFC 88 in Atlanta, GA as was originally scheduled. UFC 88 is set to take place on September 6th on Pay-Per-View.
Again, these are only preliminary discussions, but it sounds like something that may be worth doing for the UFC as a main event with Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben doesn’t have the same pop as an Anderson Silva middleweight title bout.
