UFC light heavyweight contender, Keith Jardine, announced on an Albuquerque, New Mexico radio station that he will be facing Brandon Vera on the UFC 89 card in Birmingham, England on October 18th. The card’s main event will feature Chris Leben taking on Britain’s own, Michael Bisping.
Keith Jardine is coming off of a devastating loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 84 two months ago. His UFC career as been somewhat of a rollercoaster, after it began on The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 reality show. He has managed to compile a 5-3 record for the organization, however has never been able to put more than two consecutive victories together.
Vera, is coming off a rather unimpressive win this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 14, in which he walked away with a unanimous decision victory over little known, Reece Andy. It was Vera’s first bout in the 205-pound division since coming back from his contract dispute. He had previously lost his last two bouts as a heavyweight before his win over Andy.
It is being heavily rumored that this fight card will be presented for free on Spike TV via tape delay. The UFC recently announced that they are going to hold UFC 90 in Chicago, Illinois the following weekend. Word is that they intend to use UFC 89 to promote the following week’s card.
