With featherweight king Jose Aldo exiting stage left, it’s only fitting UFC 153 opponent Frankie Edgar (Pictured) would also get pulled from the October 13th festivities.
According to MMAFighting, instead of locating a suitable substitute to face Edgar, Octagon officials have decided to save “The Answer” for another day – perhaps for when Aldo’s wounded foot allows him to return to action.
Aldo was forced to pull out of the card’s featured attraction Tuesday when the foot he hurt in a motorcycle accident proved more troublesome than anticipated. Ironically, Edgar was serving as a last-minute replacement for injured Erik Koch.
No word if the organization intends to keep the superfight between Aldo and Edgar intact, or if Koch will reclaim his top contender status when everyone has healed.
UFC 153 takes place inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
