What’s New Year’s Eve in Japan without a mixed martial arts extravaganza? Contrary to previous reports, don’t pour dirt on DREAM’s grave just yet.

The financially-plagued Japanese MMA organization held a press conference Thursday to announce they have partnered with upstart GLORY kickboxing promotion to host “DREAM: Special NYE 2012” inside Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

The December 31st show will feature MMA and kickboxing bouts. DREAM featherweight champion Hiroyuki Takaya, veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri (Pictured) and Satoru Kitaoka were all confirmed as participants in the event.

The card’s remaining roster will be revealed within the coming weeks.

DREAM did not report whether they intend to hold events beyond the end of the year bash. Their last show took place last New Year’s Eve and featured a heavyweight scrap between Fedor Emelianenko and Satoshi Ishii.

No broadcast announcements were made for the event.

It was believed DREAM went belly up when owners FED declared bankruptcy earlier this year. Bantamweight champ Bibiano Fernandes and lightweight champion Shinya Aoki even left the organization to sign with Singapore-based ONE Fighting Championships.
