The most anticipated featherweight fight in UFC history will go down inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Frankie Edgar (Pictured) challenges reigning 145-pound king Jose Aldo for his crown on February 2nd at UFC 156.

The Super Bowl weekend scrap was previously confirmed for Vegas, but a venue wasn’t announced until late Monday night. The larger MGM Grand Garden Arena just across the street was the other location in consideration.

The duo were originally slated to collide at UFC 153 until the leg Aldo injured in a motorcycle accident forced him to bow out of the bout.

“Scarface” will be riding a 14-fight winning streak into the shootout. Aldo was last seen posterizing Chad Mendes at UFC 142. The 25-year-old assassin is arguably the baddest featherweight to ever storm the MMA scene.

After losing his lightweight belt to Benson Henderson at UFC 144 and failing to recapture the strap in their August rematch, UFC president Dana White made it clear Edgar wouldn’t get another crack at the 155-pound hardware for quite some time. That’s when “The Answer” begrudgingly decided to shed 10 pounds and transition to featherweight.

Edgar is the only athlete in UFC history to compete in six consecutive title fights, with half of them being of the rematch variety. This scrap marks his seventh consecutive championship affair.

No other bouts have been reported for the show.
