In an attempt to steal some of Ronda Rousey’s spotlight, Miesha Tate (Pictured) has announced she is the second female to ink a deal with the UFC. The former Strikeforce star confirmed her employment status late Thursday night via Twitter.
“So Stoked to be fighting for the @UFC it’s been a dream of mine for along time! SO happy it’s finally come true,” Tate posted.
Rousey, Tate’s mortal enemy, became the UFC’s first female fighter earlier this evening.
“Cupcake” owns a 13-3 professional record, with her last six scraps coming under Strikeforce’s watch. The 26-year-old lost her bantamweight crown to Rousey this past March.
Tate rebounded nicely from the defeat by submitting Julie Kedzie in August.
No word on when she’ll make her big league debut.
