UFC Middleweight Anderson Silva

Although UFC president Dana White has claimed on numerous occasions that he has never spoken to middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictured) or welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre about a potential super-fight, it’s clear MMA’s head honcho has the scrap in his sights.

While appearing as a guest on Thursday morning’s edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter, White revealed Silva traveling to Montreal to root for St-Pierre as he attempts to unify the 170-pound crown against Carlos Condit isn’t because he is the planet’s biggest GSP fanboy.

“Anderson Silva will be there this Saturday watching, and if [St-Pierre] wins it’ll be a huge fight for us,” White said of Silva vs. St-Pierre. “It’ll probably be the biggest fight in UFC history, definitely be the biggest gate.

“We’ve done 65,000* up in Toronto with Georges before. We’ve had big gates pretty much everywhere we’ve gone, but this one would be either a soccer stadium down in Brazil, Dallas Texas Stadium or we’d do Toronto again.”

The rumor mill has been buzzing for the past several months that if GSP makes a triumphant return to action, a blockbuster bout between he and Silva could be arranged sometime next year. The only problem is, Silva recently proclaimed he would take most of 2013 off to concentrate on his role in Sensei Steven Seagal’s action movie and the opening of his gym in Los Angeles.

Regarding the chatter that comes from “The Spider’s” lips, White says don’t believe everything you hear.

“He said he wouldn’t fight Chael Sonnen again, either, but he did,” White said. “He always comes out and says this stuff. I don’t know why he does it or why he says the things he says.

“I guarantee you, he will be there Saturday. If Georges St-Pierre wins, those two will fight and it’ll probably be in May.

UFC 154 takes place Saturday inside Bell Centre in Montreal.
