On Thursday evening, it was announced former welterweight top contender Jon Fitch (Pictured) will battle Demian Maia at UFC 156.
Fitch bounced back from a lights out knockout loss to Johnny Hendricks with last month’s decision win over up-and-comer Erick Silva at UFC 153.
Maia has posted a perfect 2-0 mark since dropping to the 170-pound division this past July. The submission specialist is victorious in five of his previous seven Octagon scraps.
It is believed the welterweight affair will appear in the night’s main card.
UFC 156 takes place February 2nd inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A featherweight title tile between champ Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar headlines the gig.
Here are the athletes expected to perform in the show:
Jon Fitch vs. Demian Maia
Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Alistair Overeem vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva
Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo (UFC featherweight champion)
