On Friday afternoon, Ronda Rousey (Pictured) FINALLY revealed MMA’s worst kept secret. The “Rowdy” one has officially become the first female to join the UFC.
“Okay I admit it…I’m officially a @ufc fighter 🙂 SO excited! Can’t wait to debut!” Rousey tweeted. “Let @danawhite know who you want my 1st opponent to be!”
UFC president Dana White officially let the cat out of the bag minutes earlier while appearing as a guest on The Jim Rome Show.
““It’s official,” White declared. “Ronda Rousey did sign with the UFC.”
Celebrity gossip website TMZ.com broke the groundbreaking news eight days ago, however White, Rousey and her management refused to acknowledge the report until today.
The now-former Strikeforce bantamweight champ’s résumé reads a perfect 6-0, with all of her fights ending in 1stRound armbar submission fashion. Rousey was last seen in August disposing of Sarah Kaufman.
Now, it’s time for fanboys to speculate when she’ll pop her Octagon cherry, and more importantly, against who?
Will the UFC start things off with a bang by arranging the hotly rumored super-fight with former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos or will the organization give the 25-year-old another opponent in order to build up to it?
