Ratings Disaster

The overnight television ratings are in from last night’s EliteXC “Unfinished Business,” and the numbers are less than spectacular. The organization’s second CBS promotion drew in a mere 1.9 Rating, roughly 2.62 million viewers. This is a 40% drop from their first CBS show just two months ago, which pulled in 4.3 million viewers.

Last night’s event did feature two title bouts, three in all if you include the heavyweight contest on Showtime which preceded the primetime event, however lacked the star power that the debut show had. That event featured Youtube legend, Kimbo Slice, as well as female MMA star, Gina Carano.

CBS and EliteXC took a lot of criticism for their first show together in which they heavily pushed Kimbo Slice’s presence, and the circus that surrounded him. Although last night’s show had much better MMA talent, it clearly was missing that special something to attract viewers.

It was announced last night that both Kimbo and Carano will be back in action for EliteXC in October for their third show on CBS. The ratings are sure to be higher with those two names on the card.
