New Affliction event, same old fighters. Heavyweight competitor, Pedro Rizzo, confirmed that he will be competing on Affliction’s second promotional event on October 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada. There has yet to be an announcement on who his opponent will be, however the rumor is that Paul Buentello is a likely candidate. Also, fellow heavyweight, Tim Sylvia, believes that he will be competing on the card as well.
Rizzo told the Brazilian website, TATAME, that he is ready to fight anyone Affliction puts in front of him. Rizzo lost to Josh Barnett via TKO in the 2ndRound just two weekends ago at Affliction:Banned. The classy Rizzo is eager to get the taste of defeat out of his mouth.
Sylvia told the Houston Chronicle that he too is expecting to be placed on Affliction’s next card, however left the official announcement up to Affliction.
“I believe so, but I’m gonna let Affliction do all the announcing,” stated Sylvia.
And as far as an opponent for him, he wasn’t sure of that either saying, “(It) Doesn’t matter, I’ll fight anybody. I don’t care.”
Sylvia is coming of a 36 second loss to WAMMA champion, Fedor Emelianenko, at Affliction: Banned.
It has also been rumored that former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz, has come to terms with Affliction and will be competing on the October card as well. However, due to the 60 day “Non-Compete” clause that Ortiz still has from his expired UFC contract, an official announcement cannot be made until August 6th. Affliction has already scheduled a press conference for this date.
