Georges St-Pierre solidified his spot as the planet’s top welterweight on Saturday, but there was a certain suspended 170-pounder in Stockton who wasn’t blown away by GSP’s unanimous decision victory over Carlos Condit at UFC 154.
Nick Diaz (Pictured) tore a page out of the St-Pierre smack talk handbook to slight the French-Canadian’s showing.
“I am not impressed by your performance @GeorgesStPierre,” Diaz tweeted moments after St-Pierre unified the welterweight crown.
St-Pierre famously uttered those words to Matt Hughes after he beat BJ Penn at UFC 63. It’s essentially MMA’s version of the McKayla Maroney’s not impressed face.
When St-Pierre was asked about Diaz’s comment at the post-fight press conference, he didn’t feel the need to return fire. However, “Rush” was quick to spotlight the obvious.
“I did better than Diaz [did] against Carlos,” St-Pierre responded.
Diaz dropped a unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) to “The Natural Born Killer” for the interim welterweight title at UFC 143. St-Pierre, although he survived a brief scare, went on to post a convincing unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45) in Saturday’s bout with Condit.
Mr. 209 was issued a one-year ban after testing positive for marijuana metabolites following the defeat. Diaz is eligible to apply for relicensing in early February 2013.
