Former UFC fighter Dennis Hallman (Pictured ) can’t seem to catch a break. One month after being released from the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion, a violent fire took the 36-year-old’s home on Thanksgiving morning.
“Sad Thanksgiving for me and my family,” Hallman posted on his official Facebook page. “My house burned down early this AM. Thank God no one was hurt and I have that to be thankful for. Something like this makes my recent direction change all the harder…the one person that could make me feel okay about everything is no longer here.
“When God wants you to have a fresh start sometimes he really wants to make his point clear.”
Hallman was cut by the UFC after failing to make weight for October’s lightweight affair against Thiago Tavares. It was the second consecutive time the veteran had packed on too many pounds at weigh-ins.
After discovering family issues had caused Hallman to miss weight by an astonishing seven pounds, which forced the promotion to cancel the scrap, the UFC decided to pay him his show purse. However, they ultimately sent him packing for his successive issues on the scale.
