Josh Gross of SI.com is reporting that the UFC is mulling over the idea of making a trilogy out of the currently one-sided match-up between Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Rampage has been dealing with mental issues since his July 5th loss to Forrest Griffin which saw him relinquish his undisputed UFC light heavyweight title in a very close decision.
The UFC hasn’t shown interest in any one-sided trilogy before, with their posterboy Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell down 0-2 to Jackson and Rich Franklin down 0-2 to Anderson Silva, there hasn’t been any move towards making a third fight in either of those situations.
Logic would say that a third fight between Silva and Jackson would be big because of their current status in the UFC light heavyweight division. Both fighters would be right on the cusp of getting a title shot, which would make a November showdown a possible title eliminator fight. With UFC fans not as keen on their history of MMA, the UFC could sell this fight as a #1 contender fight as opposed to selling it as a trilogy.
