Gegard Mousasi (Pictured) will finally end his 13-month hiatus and return to action. “The Dreamcatcher” looks to put his torn ACL behind him, as he collides with Mike Kyle in what’s believed to be Strikeforce’s final event.
Mousasi will be riding a four-fight winning streak into the January 12th scrap. The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ was most recently seen posting a unanimous decision victory over Ovince St. Preux last December.
Kyle steps inside the hexagon for the first time since a 33-second submission loss to Rafael Cavalcante. However, “Feijao” flunked his post-fight drug test and Kyle’s defeat was overturned to a no contest. Prior to May’s bout, Kyle was on a torrid 5-1 run, with his long blemish during that streak coming as a last-minute replacement against heavyweight Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
A lightweight affair between Ryan Couture and K.J. Noons was also added to the lineup.
Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma hosts the festivities.
Here is the card’s current roster:
Lorenz Larkin vs. TBD
Ryan Couture vs. K.J. Noons
Pat Healy vs. Jorge Masvidal
Mike Kyle vs. Gegard Mousasi
Danie Cormier vs. Dion Staring
Tarec Saffiedine vs. Nate Marquardt (Strikeforce welterweight champion)
