On Tuesday, Bellator Fighting Championships announced it will be making its Spike TV debut on Thursday, January 17th at 10PM ET (7PM PT on satellite).

Bellator’s premiere on the UFC’s former home takes place inside UCI Bren Center in Irvine, California and features a pair of title tilts. Mike Chandler defends his lightweight throne against Rick Hawn in Bellator 85’s featured attraction.

Featherweight champ Pat Curran meets Patricio “Pitbull” Freire in the co-main event.

In addition, veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral fights Mikhail Zayats in the opening round of Bellator’s Light Heavyweight Tournament.

The following week, Bellator 86 will jump off inside WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Reigning welterweight champion Ben Askren puts his belt up for grabs against Karl Amoussou in the night’s showcase bout.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (Pictured), the man Bellator and Viacom (owners of Spike TV) hope will carry the organization, makes his promotional debut in the quarterfinals of the 205-pound tourney against a yet-t0-be named opponent.

A “King Mo” special will air on Spike after the first event leading up to his debut.

According to Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, Season 8 will feature featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and light heavyweight tourneys over a 12-week span.
