Earlier this morning, Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG), the parent company of Dream, confirmed eight bouts for their highly anticipated Dream.12 event. Word on the street is that Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem is set to make his return at the October 25th show as well.

Overeem’s manager, Bas Boon, confirmed with MMAWeekly late Monday that his client will be taking on James Thompson inside the Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan. However, Thompson’s agent, Ken Pavia, told the website the Brit was one of two fighters currently under consideration, with MMA veteran Ricco Rodriguez the other name being tossed around.

For those that aren’t in the know, Overeem is one of the world’s best fighters. He holds an impressive 30-11 pro record, however most of his damage has been done in the Orient so his exposure isn’t what it could be.

Overeem has been perfect through his last five fights, not including his domination of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at Dream.6, which resulted in a ‘No Contest’ due to a couple of illegal groin shots administered by Overeem.

The slugger has been sidelined since May after he broke his hand in a bar brawl. But it appears that his haymaker is finally good-to-go, and his addition will definitely solidify the lineup.

HDNet will broadcast the event live in North America.

Here are the fighters expected to be participating in the card:

Kuniyoshi Hironaka vs. Won Sik Park
Eddie Alvarez vs. Katsunori Kikuno
Chase Beebe vs. Yoshiro Maeda
Paulo Filho vs. Yoon Dong Sik
Keisuke Fujiwara vs. Tomoya Miyashita
Myeon Ho Bae vs. Marius Zaromskis (Non-title bout – Dream Welterweight Champion)
Tokimitsu Ishizawa vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Zelg Galesic vs. Kazushi Sakuraba
James Thompson or Ricco Rodriguez vs. Alistair Overeem
