It appears the Octagon’s return to Japan will be of the star-studded variety. Shortly after Diego Sanchez announced he would be fighting Takanori Gomi in the March 2nd event, it was confirmed former Pride FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva (Pictured) will headline the show opposite Brian Stann in a light heavyweight affair.
Both are looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats. Silva was last seen losing his rematch to Rich Franklin in June.
“The Axe Murderer” has alternated between wins and losses over his past five fights.
Stann, meanwhile, dropped a unanimous decision to Michael Bisping in September. Prior to that scrap, the “All-American” put Alessio Sakara to sleep with a vicious barrage of punches at “UFC on FUEL TV 2.”
Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan hosts the festivities.
FUEL TV will broadcast the main card live in North America.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Diego Sanchez vs. Takanori Gomi
Stefan Struve vs. Mark Hunt
Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann
