According to MMA guru Shawn Tompkins, his pupil and lightweight sensation, Chris Horodecki, is on the cusp of finalizing a contract to join the WEC. Tompkins believes they will take Zuffa, LLC’s minor league by storm, and wanted to serve notice to those atop the totem pole as well.
“It looks like Chris Horodecki will be showing up in the WEC,” Tompkins recently told FightHype.com.
Although the two sides have yet to put pen to paper, Horodecki’s coach feels confident that a deal could be in place within the next few of days.
“We are really close to solidifying [a signed contract] and within the next day or two, I should be able to tell you for sure,” Tompkins matter of factly said.
At only 22 years of age, “The Polish Hammer” is one of MMA’s best kept secrets. He boasts an impressive 13-1 mark with his only blemish coming at the hands of Ryan Schultz in the Finals of the IFL Lightweight Grand Prix back in 2007.
In case you missed it, it was one of the worst big brother/little brother-type beatings in MMA history. Please see the humorous TKO below that happens at 2:51 in the 1stRound (about 2 minutes into the video):
Despite that setback, Horodecki has rolled two straight wins, with his last coming against William Sriyapai in an “FFI – Ultimate Chaos” event this past June.
There’s no doubt the sky’s the limit for Horodecki, especially if he remains under Tompkins’ watchful eye. And it appears as though the teacher has his sights set on the WEC 155-pound strap.
“Chris would love to go after that WEC lightweight title,” Tompkins added.
