After suffering back-to-back losses in the middleweight division, Court McGee (Pictured) has decided a change of scenery is in order. The former “The Ultimate Fighter 11” winner has opted to shed 15 pounds and drop to the UFC welterweight class.
McGee announced his career change early Friday morning.
“I’ll be facing Josh Neer Feb 23rd @UFC 157 in Anaheim California,” McGee tweeted.
“The Crusher” made his claim to mixed martial arts fame by beating Kris McCray to take the TUF tournament back in June 2010. He broke in his six-figure UFC contract by winning his next two bouts, but has lost to Costa Philippou and Nick Ring, respectively, in his past two outings.
Speaking of two-fight skids, Neer will likely be once again fighting for his UFC life. The veteran was cut back in 2009, then granted a reprieve two years later after enjoying some success in smaller organizations.
This is actually “The Dentist’s” fourth stint with the UFC.
UFC 157 takes place February 23rd inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Here is the card’s current star-studded lineup:
Neil Magny vs. Jon Manley
Josh Neer vs. Court McGee
Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson
Urijah Faber vs. Ivan Menjivar
Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida
Liz Carmouche vs. Ronda Rousey (UFC bantamweight champion)
