Patrick Cote (Pictured) vs. Alessio Sakara: Take Two. During Saturday’s broadcast of “The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale,” UFC commentator Mike Goldberg announced the middleweights will rematch at UFC 158.
The two initially meet at UFC 154 in Montreal. Sakara dropped Cote with some short elbows in the opening round of their November 17th affair. While continuing his assault on the canvas, several of the shots missed the mark and landed illegally on the back of Cote’s head.
After referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in to stop the barrage, most fans thought Sakara had gotten away with his arrant strikes and would be awarded with the victory. Instead, Miragliotta decided to disqualify Sakara for his illegal punches.
Sakara’s camp immediately professed they would protest the decision. However, Quebec’s governing body declined to hear the Italian’s complaint and withheld the controversial verdict.
UFC 158 takes place March 16th inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
