Jamie Varner allegedly accused Melvin Guillard (Pictured) of using Vaseline to grease up his body, then withdrew from their lightweight scrap just minutes before showtime due to illness.
Guillard was not only disappointed in not being able to showcase his skills on Saturday night, but also in Varner’s “cowardly” actions. He claims the former WEC lightweight champ is scared, homie, and won’t give Varner another chance to battle him.
“No, he’ll never get the opportunity to fight me again,” Guillard told FUEL TV. “I think what he had done tonight was very cowardly. I saw the look in his eyes at weigh-ins, I could tell he didn’t want to fight me. So I’ll just leave it at that.
“I’m not gonna sit here and bash the guy. I have a level of respect for him as a person, but as a fighter, I lost all respect for him.”
However, after being notified UFC president Dana White planned on pushing their bout back two weeks to UFC 155, Guillard was willing to grant Varner another go. Although, “The Young Assassin” warns his boss that he should have replacements warming up in the bullpen.
“That’s cool, but I just hope he don’t back out again,” Guillard added. “[The UFC] might want to have some other guys lined up and make weight just in case he backs out again.”
UFC 155 takes place December 29th inside MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
