Johny Hendricks (Pictured) thinks his next fight should be against reigning welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. Well, is performing on the same night as GSP on March 16th a decent consolation prize?
Probably not, but “Bigg Rigg” has now been issued a big assignment in Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158.
Hendricks thought he earned next dibs at the 170-pound hardware by putting Martin Kampmann to sleep at UFC 154. The wrestler turned slugger has rattled off five consecutive victories.
Ellenberger was last seen in October avenging his 2006 loss to Jay Hieron. “The Juggernaut” has won seven of his past eight inside the Octagon. The 27-year-old’s lone blemish during his current run came against Kampmann.
Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada hosts the gig. St-Pierre defends his throne against Nick Diaz in the show’s featured attraction.
Here is the card’s current lineup:
Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara
Jake Ellenberger vs. Johny Hendricks
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Nick Diaz vs. Georges St-Pierre (UFC welterweight champion)
