Visa issues have forced British slugger Paul Daley (Pictured) out of Bellator’s Season 8 Welterweight Tournament. That’s the first-half of the story. The second-half might be fact, if you go off ESPN’s report, or fiction, based off Daley’s denial.

According to the media outlet, Daley is barred from coming to America after being charged with assault stemming from a bar brawl. The 29-year-old is facing up to two years in prison.

However, Daley claims his visa troubles are the only reason he can’t compete in the 170-pound tourney he was the odds-on favorite to win. As far as a slug-out in a pub, he states that’s complete rubbish.

“It seems as a mass press release has gone out to the MMA media stating I was involved bar brawl, arrested and cannot obtain a P-1 visa to compete in the USA,” Daley posted on his official Facebook page. “I am currently awaiting a decision on my visa, which is not expected until late April. Which means i am unable to compete in the Season 8 Bellator tournament, as it starts in January.

“I will be fighting in Europe in the coming months, so I am able to stay active while awaiting a decision on my visa status. I was not involved in a bar brawl. This is 100-percent a false statement.”

Daley owns an extensive 30-12-2 professional record. The former UFC and Strikeforce star has competed just once under Bellator’s watch, July’s vicious TKO victory over Rudy Bears at “Bellator 72.”

“Semtex” has only won half of his last six scraps.
