UFC Light Heavyweight Jon Jones

The accolades continue to pile up for reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones (Pictured). “Bones'” latest accomplishment is notching #18 on ESPN’s “2012 Cross-Sport Power Rankings Athletes of the Year.”

The skyrocketing superstar is the only mixed martial artist to crack the exclusive 20-athlete club, just squeaking in ahead of Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant and Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson.

As expected, Miami Heat stud LeBron James and his NBA regular season MVP, NBA Finals MVP, NBA championship and Olympic gold medal tops this year’s list.

Here’s what ESPN had to say about Jones:

Jon Jones only fought twice in 2012, but with dominating wins over Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort, he cemented his status as the best fighter in UFC. He also proved how dominant he is — though not in a good way — when he almost single-handedly collapsed the UFC 151 card.
