Joe Lauzon (Pictured) doesn’t fight until Saturday at UFC 155, but the lightweight is already a big winner this Holiday season.
Sometimes, drunken bets can cost you a boatload of money. This time, it cost UFC president Dana White $6,000.
After winning a couple of grappling tournaments, Nick “The Tooth” Gullo (It’ll only take you a second to figure out how he earned his nickname), started popping off at the mouth one intoxicated night claiming he could out-grapple Lauzon.
Once White caught wind of his longtime friend’s chatter, he set the stage for a showdown before the curtain was drawn on “UFC on FOX 5.” During one, three-minute round, White would pay Lauzon $1,000 for each time he submitted “The Tooth” and Gullo would pocket $2,500 for each time he tapped the professional fighter.
Lauzon may have swept the grappling match 6-0, but “The Tooth” clearly had the best walkout song. (Will anything ever top “You’re the Best Around”?)
“J-Lau” co-headlines UFC 155 this weekend against Jim Miller.
