UFC Michael Bisping

As the old adage goes, one man’s loss is another man’s gain. In Michael Bisping’s (Pictured) case, two UFC 155 losses will result in his gain.

After watching middleweight contenders Alan Belcher and Tim Boetsch fall on Saturday night, UFC president Dana White confirmed Bisping will benefit from their blemishes. If “The Count” beats Vitor Belfort at “UFC on FX 7,” he will in fact get next dibs at Anderson Silva’s 185-pound crown.

Unfortunately for Bisping, he’ll have to enter hostile territory to get what he’s long been clamoring for. The Brit battles “The Phenom” on January 19th inside Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Bisping has won five of his past six scraps. He was most recently seen hanging a convincing unanimous decision victory over Brian Stann at UFC 152.

The 33-year-old’s only blemish during his current run came against former top contender Chael Sonnen. He has competed 17 times inside the Octagon, and if all goes according to plan for the Brit, his 19th foray will be of the championship variety.

No word on how Chris Weidman feels about this turn of events.
