Last Saturday at UFC 155, Junior dos Santos (Pictured) learned the hard way that executing the face-to-fist defense is not the business.

The Brazilian should have known better, as he’s the one usually having to ice down his haymakers after pounding on his opponents’ faces. Nonetheless, and as expected, dos Santos was gracious in defeat and gave Cain Velasquez props for handing him the biggest beatdown he’s ever received.

“All the time, I [get] my hands hurt during the fight. All the time,” dos Santos stated in a vlog released by the UFC. “This time I got my face hurt. My hands, I’m feeling 100-percent. My face has got a little swelling, it’s for sure because I lost. I think Cain Velasquez did a excellent job so congratulations to him. He followed a good strategy.

“Now I’m going to go back home, I’m going to fix everything and put everything in the right place. I’m going to come back stronger than ever.”

Although they are knotted up at one win apiece, Velasquez’s victory was much more dominant. Because he mauled dos Santos for 25 complete minutes as opposed to the 64-second knockout “Cigano” notched on him, UFC president Dana White will not arrange an immediate trilogy between the two.

White said dos Santos will likely have to post at least one solid win before sniffing another championship affair.
