Bellator Welterweight Bracket

We’re still a few months away from March Madness, but it’s almost tournament time for Bellator Fighting Championships. On Wednesday, the mixed martial arts promotion released the brackets for their Season 8 Welterweight tourney.

WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma hosts all four welterweight quarterfinals matchups on January 24th.

“From top to bottom, our welterweight division has a collection of pure finishers that have put on some wildly entertaining fights,” Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said.

On one side of the brackets, former UFC star Ben Saunders battles Koffi Adzitso and Jose Gomes meets Raul Amaya. On the other end of the pairings, Brent Weedman faces Marius Zaromskis and Michail Tsarev fights Douglas Lima.

The victor of the eight-man tourney scores a massive $100,000 paycheck, literally and figuratively, as well as next dibs at reigning Bellator 170-pound champ Ben Askren.

Speaking of Askren, he’ll put his title on the line against Karl Amoussou in the show’s featured contest. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal also makes his promotional debut.

Spike.com will offer a live stream of the preliminary bouts, while Spike TV broadcasts the main cards.
