Daniel Cormier’s (Pictured) final fight for Strikeforce was a minor formality. The Heavyweight Grand Prix champion looked all of the 20-to-1 favorite the Gambling Gods pegged him on Saturday night.
After easily disposing of Dion Staring, Cormier revealed his goals for 2013 – and they are quite ambitious.
“Right now, I’m telling you, April 20th on FOX, I signed my UFC contract, Frank Mir, you and me, let’s do it,” Cormier stated during his in-cage post-fight interview.
Cormier was slated to meet Mir in November, but the former two-time UFC champ was forced to withdraw with an injury. Because Cormier had studied Mir’s game so much in preparation for their shootout, he doesn’t want his homework to go to waste.
However, after making his big league debut in the heavyweight division, it appears Cormier intends on dropping to the light heavyweight class to not only challenge reigning 205-pound king Jon Jones for his crown, but do something to “Bones” no man has ever done before.
“I’m gonna let Jon defend his belt April 27th [against Chael Sonnen], then I’m gonna kick his ass in the fall,” Cormier confidently stated.
Cormier will be taking a perfect 11-0 record to the UFC.
