Ask, and you shall receive – unless you’re Chris Weidman, of course. Roy Nelson (Pictured) and Cheick Kongo agreed on Twitter over the weekend that a scrap sounded like a good idea. Their bosses agreed and have assigned the heavyweight shootout to the UFC 159 lineup.
The bout was announced on this week’s edition of FUEL TV’s UFC Tonight.
Nelson is victorious in three of his past four fights. “Big Country” was last seen cruising to a TKO win over Matt Mitrione in December.
Speaking of that Mitrione bout, UFC president Dana White blasted Kongo for declining the contest against Nelson. White claimed it was the second time the 37-year-old shot down the opportunity to face Nelson.
The veteran kickboxer hasn’t competed since posting a decision win over Shawn Jordan in July.
Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey hosts the April 27th festivities.
Here is the card’s current roster:

Roy Nelson vs. Cheick Kongo
Chael Sonnen vs. Jon Jones (UFC light heavyweight champion)
