The Octagon might be hosting a featherweight superfight this Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion from filling out the UFC 159 roster.
After announcing a slew of scraps to the April 27th lineup late Tuesday night, the UFC is reporting a middleweight shootout between Michael Bisping (Pictured) and Alan Belcher will co-headline their return to New Jersey.
Both 185-pounders will be looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats. Bisping lost his shot at challenging champion Anderson Silva for his crown when he ate Vitor Belfort’s shin earlier this month.
“Ok I’m back in ASAP like I wanted. To eradicate the mistake I made last week. April 27th vs belcher. Back on track!! Make no mistake!” Bisping tweeted shortly after the announcement.
Belcher saw his four-fight winning streak evaporate in the wind by the hands of Yushin Okami. “The Talent” was dominated in a unanimous decision loss at UFC 155.
Prudential Center in Newark hosts the festivities. A light heavyweight title tilt between champ Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here is the card’s current roster:
Jim Miller vs. Pat Healy
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Phil Davis
Roy Nelson vs. Cheick Kongo
Michael Bisping vs. Alan Belcher
Chael Sonnen vs. Jon Jones (UFC light heavyweight champion)
