The WEC has confirmed via their Twitter account they have just inked lightweight sensation Chris Horodecki to a deal. Considering his coach Shawn Tompkins all-but confirmed it was a done-deal last week, this news is far from earth-shattering. However, it appears that he will be in action sooner rather than later.
Word on the grapevine is Horodecki will make his Zuffa, LLC, parent company of the WEC and UFC, debut at WEC 45 against Anthony Njokuani on December 15th.
At only 22 years of age, “The Polish Hammer” is one of MMA’s best kept secrets. He boasts an impressive 13-1 mark with his only blemish coming at the hands of Ryan Schultz in the Finals of the IFL Lightweight Grand Prix back in 2007.
In case you missed it, it was one of the worst big brother/little brother-type beatings in MMA history. Please see the humorous TKO below that happens at 2:51 in the 1stRound (about 2 minutes into the video):
Despite that setback, Horodecki has rolled two straight wins, with his last coming against William Sriyapai in an “FFI – Ultimate Chaos” event this past June.
Here are the other fighters rumored to be competing inside the The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada:
Bart Palaszewski vs. TBD
Takeya Mizugaki vs. Damacio Page
Chris Horodecki vs. Anthony Njokuani
Donald Cerrone vs. Ed Ratcliff
