Earlier today via its website, Affliction announced that Josh Barnett will step in for WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko to face Andrei Arlovski in what has to be considered a #1 contender’s fight. Emelianenko had recently been injured and was forced to pull out, which sent Affliction scrambling to find a proper main event for its second event.

Arlovski is coming off of a convincing victory over Ben Rothwell at “Affliction: Banned” and seemed to show signs of being the old UFC heavyweight champion who fans came to love.

Barnett has long been a heavyweight contender since his days in PRIDE and has championship experience as he was once UFC heavyweight champion. He was also able to secure a win at “Affliction: Banned” when he avenged a previous loss by KO’ing Pedro Rizzo.

No other fights have been announced for “Affliction: Day of Reckoning.”
