The Baltimore Ravens aren’t the only ones to serve up an upset special over the weekend. Of the 11 fights that went down at “UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar,” six underdogs emerged victorious, three of which were at least 3-to-1 longshots.
Dustin Kimura, Isaac Vallie-Flagg, Bobby Green, Demian Maia, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira all came through when they weren’t expected to on Saturday night.
Rashad Evans was the largest favorite to fall. The former light heavyweight champ was a whopping 5-to-1 odds-on favorite to dispose of Nogueira in the show’s co-featured attraction.
Instead, “Suga” dropped a unanimous decision in what UFC president Dana White said was “the worst I have ever seen Rashad.”
However, the most significant favorite to lose was Alistair Overeem (Pictured). “The Demolition Man” could have secured a shot at Cain Velasquez’s heavyweight crown had he upheld his 3.5-to-1 favorite status against Bigfoot.
Things were going smoothly for Overeem until the third and final round rolled around. Bigfoot came out like a house on fire and clobbered the former Strikeforce champion for a vicious TKO victory.
