The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the official salaries for all the athletes who competed in Saturday’s “UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar” event.
Despite dropping a unanimous decision to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the show’s co-featured attraction, Rashad Evans was the night’s highest earner scoring a $300,000 payday.
Evans’ Blackzilian teammate, Alistair Overeem, who also found himself adding a digit to the loss column, came in just behind with a $285,714.29 purse.
Evans could have scored an additional $215,000, while Overeem would have made $142,857.14 more had they won.
Featherweight king Jose Aldo (Pictured), who happened to headline the pay-per-view broadcast, left Las Vegas with $240,000, half of which came courtesy of beating Frankie Edgar.
Please keep in mind, the numbers that get reported to the athletic commissions are only of what’s required. These figures do not include deductions for items such as licenses and taxes.
Additionally, they do not contain money paid by sponsors or any bonuses from the UFC. These royalties can include pay-per-view commissions, Fight Night bonuses, top secret discretionary bonuses, etc., which can oftentimes represent a substantial portion of a fighter’s total income.
Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas hosted Saturday’s event.
