All dressed up and no nowhere to go. Former featherweight to contender Chad Mendes (Pictured) has been pulled from UFC 157 after opponent Manny Gamburyan was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.
Because of the last-minute nature of Gamburyan’s exit, the promotion wasn’t able to locate a suitable substitute in time.
“Well guys it looks like I’m off the Anaheim card,” Mendes tweeted. “Sucks pretty bad. Ill keep everyone updated with what I find out. Sorry.
“Manny was injured and no one would step up.”
The 145-pound scrap was slotted to appear live in the pay-per-view broadcast. No word on which prelim will get promoted to the main card, but going by the lineup’s official bout order, the heavyweight fight between Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson would get the bump.
UFC 157 takes place February 23rd inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
