The “Money” train waits for no man. Or in this case, waits for no Manny Gamburyan. After watching an injured Gamburyan withdraw from their UFC 157 bout at the 11th hour, Chad Mendes has been reassigned to fight Clay Guida (Pictured) at “UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez.”

UFC President Dana White confirmed the featherweight affair with USAToday.

“There’s not a huge line of people that want to fight Chad, especially on two weeks’ [notice],” White stated. “But Chad is the best – if not, the second best – guy in that weight division, period. Chad’s not going to turn anybody down. He believes he can beat anybody.”

Mendes was last seen steamrolling Yaotzin Meza at UFC on FX 6. The former top contender has spent a total of two minutes and 26 seconds inside the Octagon in his last two wins.

Guida posted a split decision win over Hatsu Hioki to snap his two-fight skid. The contest marked “The Carpenter’s” 145-pound debut.

HP Pavilion in San Jose, California hosts the April 20th festivities.
