Never say never, especially if you’re UFC President Dana White. As recently as 18 months ago, White professed he would never allow women to fight inside of his Octagon.
Along comes skyrocketing superstar Ronda Rousey (Pictured) and White has changed his tune, big time. Not only did he anoint Rousey the promotion’s first female champion, but she will defend her throne against Liz Carmouche in the main event of a UFC pay-per-view broadcast.
Of course, you can’t discuss the history of women’s mixed martial arts without talking about Gina Carano. Some would say the same thing about Cris “Cyborg” Santos, but the UFC managed to do so in their latest video promo.
UFC 157 takes place Saturday inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
