Size Matters For Fighters at UFC 104

Three fighters who stepped on the scales during today’s “UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun” weigh-ins failed to make weight and if you looked at the expression on Dana White’s face, you knew he wasn’t pleased about it.

Gleison Tibau and Josh Neer (who happen to be fighting each other in a lightweight bout) both failed to make weight, instead agreeing to a catch-weight bout.

White has stated in the past that fighters have to be ready to fight and not making weight is unacceptable.

Lucky for the UFC, all the fights will go on as scheduled including a welterweight bout between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Yoshiyuki Yoshida even though Johnson missed weight by 6 pounds.

Another interesting note from today’s weigh-ins has to do with the light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida. On Tuesday, Machida told 5thRound.com that he was weighing around 206-207lbs.

The champion weighed-in at 202.5 pounds, while Rua was 204.5lbs.
